What is AlaMesa?
AlaMesa is proyect for the promotion of cuban gastronomy and the management of associated services through the web. It is essentially a directory of restaurants with which it is possible to interact through a search engine and a series of links proposed under several categories. This directory contains detailed information on each of the entities registered in the database, which provides end users the basic elements needed to decide where to eat. Besides the cost-free availability of complete information in the directory, AlaMesa offers a catalog of services designed to help restaurant owners to strengthen their promotional activity.
Which are the differences between AlaMesa and similars projects?
AlaMesa is a tool that sistematizes the disposition of information about restaurants while provides the mechanisms for advanced search. AlaMesa give oportunities under equal terms for every restaurant and is not circunscribed to a determined administration category such as paladars or state-run restaurants. Has been created and developed by Cubans living in Cuba, having all the advantages and possibilities of the direct and permanent contact with their clients. The Development Team have periodical contact with restaurants owners in order to keep the information updated. In AlaMesa, the restaurant is responsible of its own data.
How can a restaurant be part of the Directory?
Through accurate and complete filling of the form provided by AlaMesa personnel, and delivery of the supplementary information requested in digital support. Also require the signature of the owner in an act of comformity, authorizing AlaMesa to use these data. Registration, permanence and updating of restaurant’s information in the directory, its completely free.
Can a user register a restaurant?
The AlaMesa registration can only occur with the full consent of the restaurant's owner, expressed through the signing of the Act of Conformity with the use of information. Therefore a user who has knowledge of the existence of a restaurant that is not included in our database can not perform the registration. However, we welcome anyone who has information about restaurants that meet the requirements defined, to provide us or them with contact information.

A promotional activity carried out among a potentially high number of users, designed and structured to suit their circumstances, all at an attractive cost (free in its basic form). A Catalog of Services providing positioning advantages within the market.

How to manually update the database in Android?
Uncompress the downloaded zip file and copy it's content to the phone sdcard. In the app, go to "Settings" view and select "Data file" to locate the file previously copied, wait for the application to check and load the data, this process could take a few minutes.
How to manually update the database in iOS?
Rename to alamesa.db the downloaded file and copy it to the app's Document folder. Restart the app to load the new data.
