Description
Traditionally known as the Casa de la Parra (Cypress Vine House) due to the colorful plant in its interior courtyard, the restaurant is set inside a building which, owing to its architectural features, dates from the 17th century. This little colonial house is home to a welcoming site specializing in local food and Vietnamese fried rice. The Hanoi brings back the tradition of old Havana taverns, serving good and plentiful inexpensive food, on one of the corners of the Plaza del Cristo del Buen Viaje (Christ of the Good Journey Square), which came into being in 1640, next door to the chapel of the same name, also called “Calvary Chapel”, because it used to be the final station for the Via Crucis procession along Amarguras (Bitterness) Street. With the Capitol building behind, this colorful little red-tiled roof house has two rooms, an interior courtyard and a bar, where visitors may have refreshing drinks in the shade of the cypress vine and keep time while listening to live Cuban traditional music.
